Focus on the groin

Giants took 2 of 3 from the Dodgers, but the question here: is the Panda OK? Why did he come out of the game early?.

Another inexplicable double-switch? No, Pablito has a tight left groin.

Don’t worry. Today’s a day off and Bochy expects him to be in the lineup on Friday.

three multiple-hit games entering Monday, knocked in a two-out run vs LA. See the video.

Also: the Panda drew a walk and stole a base. Look out Rickey Henderson.

Pablo who?

Brilliant post at despio.com pointing out that a big time Chicago Trib sports writer, Phil Rogers, referred to our Panda, Pablo Sandoval, as “Pablo Escobar” who was, unfortunately, a notorious Colombian Medellin Cartel member.

We’re out there fighting for wins

Pablito’s four hits and HR gave the Giants the lead, but it slipped
away late. So why didn’t he win the game in extras? The Mgr pulled him
on a double switch and he missed two ABs.

“It was great,” Sandoval said, “but then we lost. We’re out there fighting for wins.”

He can fight better if he’s in the game.

the Panda lit it up

Moved into the 3-hole, the Panda lit it up — 4-4, career-high four hits, 2R, 2B, HR — first of the season, 3 RBI, BA now at .292. The pen coughed up the game, but SF still took the series from AZ.

The HR pitch was way up and in. Take a look.

“Adjust and hope they make a mistake.”

Slow-starting trio of youngsters taking sophomore lumps
By Jorge L. Ortiz, USA TODAY

San Francisco Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval,
who excelled as a rookie (.345 in 41 games), had been chasing pitches
around his eyes until Sunday, when his three hits lifted his average
from .195 to .244.

“Pitchers know you better now, and they pitch
accordingly,” Sandoval said, “so you have to adjust and hope they make
a mistake you can take advantage of.”

No Place Like Holm

Steve Holm is back in the show, leaving Pablito safe at third after a successful start behind the dish — a shutout, of course.

Here are the pros/cons from the gang at McCovey’s Cove.

The Panda’s game in the four-hole? A single in four trips. One LOB. .245.

Sanchez is on the board to back up Zito, so expect a quick hook if he struggles. Molina rests, Sandoval at cleanup; Torres gets first start. Schierholtz now is only position player still waiting for a start.

I’ll take it

“I just want to be in the lineup every day and get my job done on offense and defense, no matter what position in the lineup,”
MLB

Sandoval, who had been
mired in the worst slump of his brief career, batted sixth and went
3-for-5, including a triple. The total equaled the number of hits he
had in his previous 27 at-bats. The breakthrough began with a
broken-bat single to left in the second inning.

“That was the real start; you break a bat and you get a base hit,” Sandoval said. “I’ll take it.”
