Thanks for your thoughts, Bowler Bob. We can each call Pablito whatever we want, of course, but he doesn't have to answer. I think "Sandy" is a fine nickname, but not nearly as much fun as "Panda." That's great that you had such an excellent view of that homer. I think we'll remember it in the future as the first of many huge hits this year.

I was at the game last night, and literally had a bird's-eye view of Pablo Sandoval's walk-off, 3-run homer.

Sitting in View Level Section 318, Row 9, Seat 1, which is just 9 rows from the top of the stadium, and 2 sections to the left of home plate, that was one of the most majestic home runs that I'd ever seen in my 10 seasons of Giants baseball at AT&T Park.

As far as a nickname for Pablo goes, after the game when I called in to "Giants Talk" with host Dave Fleming, part of the Giants broadcast team on KNBR 680 in San Francisco, I unthinkingly and inadvertantly referred to Sandoval as "Sandy", which neither Dave or I caught at the time.

I also went to today's finale against the Nationals, where a friend mentioned to me that he liked the nickname for Pablo that I used in my call to the the program last night.

He asked me if it was in reference to former Cleveland Indians catcher Santos "Sandy" Alomar, Jr.

I then answered "no, first off I don't even remember referring to him as "Sandy", but now that you mention it, he does have a lot of the same qualities and a certain resemblance to Alomar, and secondly, "Sandy" does have a nice ring to it"

So there you have it, my contribution of a nickname for one of the most exciting new Giants that I've seen in many years, Pablo "Sandy" Sandoval!

Cheers!
